According to the rules set forth by the OSA, we maintain our membership as majority Swiss Citizens. We democratically consider the needs of all of our members however on referenda and votes that concern Swiss affairs, only Swiss Citizens are allowed to vote.
We wish to take a legal form of Cooperative in Malta. We do so because we rely on the strength of our network of Swiss Compatriots in the Maltese islands to achieve our intended purpose of unity. We remain united through our culture, language and economic interests and bring together Swiss nationals who are resident here in Malta and those that visit. Together we can defend Swiss interests in the country.
Swiss Abroad face challenges that our compatriots living in the country do not. By hosting regular meetings, we provide an open forum for Swiss Citizens to discuss their opinions and concerns. We also believe in making ties with the countries where we are resident. SCM also welcomes those that have strong ties to Switzerland through family connections and those who have lived in Switzerland long enough to have received a C Residence permit at some point in their lives.
As with any organization we need our members support whether through the payment of membership dues or through donations of Swiss foods, furniture and spaces to have our events and regular meetings. We thank all of our founding board members, general members, and benefactors for making generous donations and joining the SCM through the payment of dues to get our organization started. We are thrilled to be able to create connections for Swiss abroad in Malta.
The celebration of Swiss National Day is open to all.
SUPPORT FOR SWISS NATIONAL LANGUAGES
This site is written in English due to the current expense (time and money) of translating all of the pages into four languages. Since membership currently hails from all three language regions we have chosen English for this website. If possible and with future support, we will endeavor to offer the site in at least two national languages. Members and friends can volunteer to help with this endeavor.
